Parents play a vital role in the development of youth. Effective parenting can prevent involvement in the juvenile justice system, promote academic achievement, positively influence social development, and enhance decision-making skills. As parents seek to improve their skills and public and private organizations recognize the need to support these parents, family education has become a major vehicle for supporting the positive development of youth. Branch Associates has extensive experience in developing and implementing comprehensive evaluation designs utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the outcomes of parenting programs in a variety of settings.
Featured Project: Enhancing Parenting Skills Initiative
Branch Associates provided multi-year evaluation services to a city-wide initiative in Philadelphia to enhance parenting skills among families with children in the child welfare system and those in the process of family reunification. This evaluation project utilized multiple data collection and analysis techniques to assess the effectiveness of more than 60 community-based parenting education projects. Specific evaluation activities included: administering a standardized assessment of parent attitudes and conducting telephone surveys, focus groups, case studies and program site visits.
